One of our favorite articles to put together each year is a collection of the best fishing videos from the year before. This years list includes videos from a few different provinces and focuses on three or four different fish species. All are good watches that will get you excited to get back on the water and may even inspire a different sort of trip than you're used to.
Overall Favorite: Video with the most variety of action
Cool video of a couples 62-mile canoe and camping trip with some solid walleye fishing throughout. It's a longer one but mixes in the camping, a hook caught in one of their legs, some white water canoeing and fixing a leak in the canoe. Good trip, good watch
Walking a creek for brook trout
This is an excellent video that features some beautiful brook trout caught in New Brunswick while wading a creek in mid-May. Some good underwater videos too, which always bump a fishing video up in our minds.
All Fishing: Targeting Muskie & Pike
Lake of the Woods is located in Southwest Ontario, right near Winnipeg. This video is from two anglers targeting Northern Pike and Muskie…it's sort of a slow-moving video but it's all fishing and a lot of really nice catches too.
Huge Pike had his walleye
Pretty nuts starting around 6:30-6:45 minutes in. A nice size pike was on for over a minute they got it close enough and the pike was never hooked…it was just hanging onto the small walleye they had hooked. Overall, this is a good video from Lake Tobin fishing in Saskatchewan with a lot of walleye on board.
Ice Fishing: Sight fishing for Brook Trout
No Canadian fishing list like this is complete without an ice fishing video. So many good ones in the past and this year we picked one where the anglers are sight fishing in shallow waters for brook trout. It's always interesting to watch the fish before a strike and they land a really nice brookie around the 2:30 mark.
King Salmon on Lake Ontario, fishing during a storm
A couple anglers get some nice king salmon fishing in while watching a storm develop. The storm eventually hits, so they get to shore right when it clears. So, they buy some dry clothes and go back out for more fishing…landing a few more nice kings. A good video that reminds us of an article about the affect a thunderstorm would have on fishing.
We are excited to get our lines in the water this year and know you are too…be sure to take some videos so you might be on this list next year!
