Featured Packages
Alberta is blessed with a multitude of streams and rivers that flow east from the Rocky Mountains onto the Alberta prairie along with a few amazing prairie spring creeks. Alberta consists of six main river basins; the South Saskatchewan basin is the main area of my guiding operations. My mountain walk and wade trips focus on three mountain watersheds, the Highwood River, the Oldman River and the Castle watersheds. Other options include the Waterton, Belly and St Mary’s rivers further to the south. Within these watersheds can be found some of the best Cutthroat, Rainbow and Bull Trout fishing anywhere in North America. With my focus on Southern Alberta the closest and most productive rivers I enjoy taking clients to are the Oldman River, the Livingston River, The Crowsnest and the Castle Rivers. These rivers flow through some of the most beautiful country in North America, making the scenery alone worth the trip.
The mountain walk and wade is $750/day for two anglers with transporation provided by Squatchy Waters. The mountain walk and wade will take between 8 and 14 hours (includes driving time) depending on the location chosen. This includes, fly rods and flies, lunch and snacks, non-alcoholic refreshments, casting instruction, gear discussion, knots used, reading the water, how to fight a fish on a fly rod, safe wading techniques, you will also be introduced to different fly fishing techniques. Overnight mountain trips are available but you will require your own accommodation, food and preparation there of other than lunches, I can provide all cooking supplies.
Set away from the City life you won't believe the Incredible Fishery just down stream of Calgary. There is something for everyone. The Bow River is the place to be if you are looking to fly fish for trophy sized Brown Trout & Rainbow Trout...and it also contains Cutthroat, Bull Trout, Pike and the occasional Lake Trout. The river also contains an abundant population of mountain white fish along with Burbot and suckers. All species listed above have been caught on the fly, so you may end up with some surprises. In addition to world class fly fishing a multitude of bird species make the Bow River home and use it as a stopover during migration as well. It is not uncommon to see nesting pairs of Bald Eagles and Osprey and the occasional Golden Eagle, even in downtown Calgary.
The full day Bow River float trip is $650 for up to two anglers, the half day trip is $500 for up to two anglers in the boat. The Bow River full day float trip will take between 8 and 10 hours (including driving time) please let me know if you are not able to ride in a boat for this length of time, I can then plan stops accordingly. The half day trip will take between 4 and 6 hours. These trips include, lunch and/or snacks, non-alcoholic refreshments, fly rods and flies, casting instruction, gear discussion, knots used, reading the water, how to fight a fish on a fly rod, safe wading techniques, you will also be introduced to different fly fishing techniques and flies used.
