The Bear's Den Lodge is a boat-in or fly-in fishing lodge along the French River. Guests of the lodge have access to big Northern Pike, Walleye, Muskie and Lake Trout. They offer guided fishing, comfortable accommodations, and plenty of access to good fishing.
Fishing with Bear's Den Lodge
First, you should plan on bringing all of your own fishing gear, though you can rent gear - rod and reels, etc., - at the lodge. The French River is well-known as a Walleye Blue Ribbon water system. There are also a large population of Largemouth Bass and Smallmouth Bass which are prime fish for the late spring and throughout the summer. These waters also hold big Northern Pike and the elusive Muskie. The most populous fish here are the crappies which are common in dinner-plate size. In terms of fishing, expect to have access to many varieties of fish. If you plan on targeting big Trophies, talk with your guide. The lodge offers about an hour of fishing instruction and welcomes new fishers as well as master-level fishers too.
Generally, you fish from a 16' Lund boat with an appropriate size motor. All boats feature padded, swivel seats, paddles, floatation devices, and a measuring tape. You can rend depth finder and fish finders as needed. You can buy bait or shop their tackle shop too.
Expect a quality fishing experience. You can opt to fish with a guide or without. The water here changes quickly and a guide is your best bet to locate the best fishing spots.

Lodging with Bear's Den Lodge
The lodge offers both housekeeping cottages and an American Plan. The housekeeping cabins are fully-equipped. The cabins range in size from 1-3 bedrooms and each bedroom has electric heat and carpeting. The main lodge offers rooms too. Usually, a pair of single wide beds or a double bed with a single bed. Rooms in the lodge have shared bathrooms. Cabins feature private baths. The main lodge also offers WiFi, dining, and plenty of places around to sit, read, and even enjoy their massive historical collection of the French River.
Overall, expect a clean room, well-equipped cabins or rooms, access to good fishing, and plenty of packages to meet your needs.
