Besnard Lake Camp sits along the shores of beautiful Besnard Lake amid the northern Saskatchewan Boreal forests. The camp sits about 200 miles from Prince Albert, Saskatchewan and is accessible by vehicle. Guests stay in a series of cabins that hold eight people each or for those purists there are 38 camp sights. This is a good location for Walleye and Northern Pike fishing.
Fishing with Besnard Lake Camp
Guests are expected to bring their own bedding, even for cabin rentals. The lake is big and offers a few variations for fishing. Expect gentle shorelines with sandy beach areas. There are few bays and coves where you may find weed patches and big Northern Pike. For the most part, the fish patrol the lake. There are plenty of Walleye around and many in the 15 plus inch range. There are big Northern pike in the 35 plus inch range too.
One of the perks of staying here is that the staff cleans, filets, packages, and freezes your fish for you. Expect to fish from aluminum boats with 40 hp motors and a trawling motor too. After a long day of fishing, you can still fish right off the docks and catch Walleye. Walleye tend to strike the best at dawn and dusk and then retreat to the deeper water during the hottest part of the day. So an hour or two of casting from the deck can yield a lot of fish.
Guides are available for full days of fishing and on big lakes, they really do make the difference between hunting for trophy fish all day and finding them. For the most part, expect good fishing, a comfortable place to stay, and excellent guides.
