Big North Lodge and Outposts

The Big North Lodge & Outposts is located on the Winnipeg River System at Minaki. The lodge is just over a three-hour drive from Winnipeg and just North of the town of Kenora. Here anglers have opportunities to battle Walleye, Northern Pike, Smallmouth Bass, and Muskie. For hunters, the area is rich with White Tail Deer, Black Bear, and Moose. The lodge is a main complex and outpost cabins on Long Lake and Roger Lake.

Lodging at Big North Lodge & Outposts

The main lodge offers six cottages on the shores of Gun Lake within the Winnipeg River System. The lodge holds up to 30 guests. The main lodge has options such as their American Plan or Housekeeping Plan. Each cottage at the main lodge are fully modern, sleep 2-6 people with the exception of the four-bedroom cottage which holds up to 12 people. Cottages feature electric heat, 24 hour electricity, hot and cold running water and three-piece bathrooms with a shower.


Rodger Lake Outpost has two cabins that are each three bedroom floor plans. Together, both cabins hold up to 12 people making this a perfect location for small groups, corporate groups, and families. The cabins are 700 feet apart and offer many modern amenities.

Long Lake Outpost holds up to four people. It is also a place where you are likely to see a variety of wildlife from eagles to bears. At night, you may also hear the Wolves.

The outposts have hot and cold water, modern conveniences and are beautifully built.

Fishing with Big North Lodge & Outposts

The season here is from May through October. Guests have access to five lakes — Gun Lake, Little Sand Lake, Big Sand Lake, Rough Rock Lake, and Pistol Lake. Guides are available and make a big difference if you are after trophy fish or Muskie. Lunch is usually a shore lunch of Walleye prepared by your guide. guests enjoy fishing from 17-foot Lund Outfitters with Pedestal seats, fishing floor, live wells, and 50 HP engines.


Roger Lake Outpost sits along the Sturgeon River which is well know for trophy fish such as Walleye and Northern Pike. This is also an excellent spot for those who love to fish for Smallmouth Bass.

Long Lake Outpost holds up to four people and has access to Pressure Lake. This is an excellent location for Walleye and big Northern Pike.

Overall, expect to find a ton of outstanding fishing opportunities for anglers of all skill levels.
