Burt Lake Lodge is a Northern Ontario fishing haven located near Kirkland Lake. We are an easy 6.5-hour drive from Toronto from the Trans-Canada Highway ON-11 North. The benefit of fishing with Burt Lake Lodge is that they are a drive-in lodge in the remote wilderness one expects to find from a fly-in lodge. Fishermen get the best of both worlds here.
Fishing with Burt Lake Lodge
The local area has over 200 lakes and many rivers from which guests of the lodge can fish. Depending on the lake or river fishing targets include Walleye, Whitefish, Northern Pike, Smallmouth Bass, Jumbo Perch, Rainbow Trout, Brook Trout, Lake, Trout, and Splake.
For river action using fly rod or spinning rod, choices include the Montreal River or the Englehart River. The Englehart River is excellent for Brook Trout and Splake. The Montreal River is a haven for Walleye, Northern Pike, and Smallmouth Bass.
Burt Lake offers the most diverse population of fish and included excellent fishing for Walleye, Whitefish, Northern Pike, Smallmouth Bass, Jumbo Perch, and Brook Trout.
For those who love to target Lake Trout, Watabeag Lake and Sunny Lake are the places to head. For Splake, Galer Lake and Beaver Lake and the Englehart River offer excellent fishing.
For fly fishermen or spin casters who want to target Rainbow Trout, head over to Beaver Lake as this is the only place in the area where they are well known.
The best Walleye fishing is out of the Montreal River, Burt Lake, Kenogami Lake, and Holmes Lake.
Burt Lake is a series of Lakes and guests have access to 14-foot boats with motors. Burt Lake #1 is awesome for Northern Pike and Brook Trout, which use the connecting channel to Burt Creek as a place to spawn. Most of the lakes listed in this article are within 20 minutes of the lodge by vehicle and some as little as five minutes away.
Overall, expect a friendly, clean, and comfortable lodge with outstanding fishing opportunities.
