Canada North Lodge sits 240 miles north of International Falls, Minnesota in the wilderness of Northwestern Ontario. The lodge sits along the banks the Woman River Chain of Lakes and within view of Little Bear Lake. As a drive-in fishing lodge, Canada North Lodge offers easy access to world-class fishing.
Guests are housed in a series of well-appointed cabins that offer wall-to-wall carpeting, daily maid service, and that are fully furnished and includes linens. They even fill up your ice chest daily. They have dining on-site and offer three meals per day. The main lodge has a dining room, game room, camp store, and a great room making this more like a resort than a camp.
Fishing with Canada North Lodge
The fishing habitat is along narrow lakes that range in depth to 130 feet. Expect to find a varied habitat with underwater structures, reefs, inlets and outlets, and islands. The Woman River Chain of Lakes is made up of eight lakes that connect via rivers. Lakes include:
Little Bear Lake
Loon Lake
Big Bear Lake
Little Woman Lake
Big Woman Lake
Swain Lake
Washagomis Lake.
The lakes are pristine, and there is not a lot of outside fishing here, so the stock maintains a good population of large fish.
The Fish and the Lakes
Fly-in fishing is an option and guests can fly out to Uchi Lake Lodge and other remote fishing areas. If you don't mind a short drive from the lodge, there is a Portage Option, which expands your fishing to an additional ten lakes with boats and motors on-site.
The key to successful lake fishing is to know your prey. Each of the species here has a soft spot based on their lifestyle and the time of year. For example, Northern Pike are lurkers, so you find then in the weeds where smaller fish think they are safe.
Overall, expect a comfortable, relaxed fishing lodge with outstanding opportunities for fishing.
