Canonto Lodge is a Southern Ontario gem. It offers upscale lakeside cottages along the northern shore of Norcan Lake. The lodge sits just 60 miles from Ottawa and is a short 4.5-hour drive from Toronto. This is a prime location for Walleye, Northern Pike, and Smallmouth Bass fishing.

Guests of the lodge stay in one of three lakefront cottages that offer unique decor and a clean and comfortable accommodations. Cottages come with TV, DVD, and VCR and wireless internet. The cottages range in size from a small family to 14 person groups. Expect to find comfortable beds, BBQ's, and laundry facilities among the long list of amenities. This is an ideal location for families, reunions, corporate groups, and fishermen.

Fishing on Norcan Lake

The lake is fair sized and offers good fishing for Walleye and Northern Pike. It offers the best Smallmouth bass fishing in the area with angler reports that the fish populations are large and thriving. They practice a voluntary conservation program and ask that trophy fish be released so that they can continue to grow.

There is a boat launch just down the way making it easy to launch your own boat into the lake. There is also miles upon miles of shoreline from which people successfully fish. Boat fishing offers the best success for Smallmouth Bass, but trophy sized Northern Pike can be caught from the shore.

Northern Pike fishing is outstanding, and guests are encouraged to give it a try.The trick is to trick the pike into thinking a meal is at hand. These are fish that lurk for hours waiting for something to swim by their mouth. You can change that with a nice shiny minnow lure, spinner lure with live bait, or a spoon. You will also need a steel leader line as these fish have over 700 razor sharp teeth in their mouth.
