Evergreen Resort & Outpost sits some 400 miles to the North from Winnipeg. It is a fishing resort that is easily accessible by car or plane and sits inside of the Clearwater Provincial Park. The resort offers fishing guides, boat rentals, and personal watercraft rentals for fishing and enjoyment. In addition to equipment, you can rent cabins or stay in the main lodge, which offers an American Plan. The Real draw here is the fishing and the easy mix of a family vacation with a fishing vacation.

Fishing with the Evergreen Resort & Outpost

You can opt to stay on Clearwater lake or fly-in to Fly-In Lake. From either location, you have excellent access to big Northern Pike, Walleye, and Lake Trout. The lakes offer crystal clear waters which make sight fishing a joy. These are catch and release lakes which add to the high number of Trophy-sized fish available today. Guests are welcome to bring their own boats, or they can rent one from the resort.

For Northern Pike and Lake Trout Fishing, your best best is in early June. This is also called "First-Ice-Out." The best spot is in the shallow bays where the water is warmer thanks to the sheltering landscape. What draws the big fish in close to shore is that the insect population begins to stir and those aquatic insects provide a huge food source for smaller fish which attract the big fish. You will find the Northern Pike in 2-5 feet of water, and the Lake Trout in the 10-foot depth range. The Walleye are prime a little later in the summer when the water is warmer and their spring spawn is done.

Overall, this is a great location for fishing thanks to the conservation that keeps the big fish present.
