Flame Lake Lodge is about an eight-hour drive from Toronto. It sits between Sault Ste. Marie and Chapleau. A short three hours from Sault Ste. Marie, and an hour or so from Chapleau. As a small, family-run lodge you get personal service in a spot that is prime for Walleye fishing.

Guests stay either in cabins or in the campground. The housekeeping cabins sleep up to six people and offer the convenience of a four-piece bathroom, full kitchen, and a deck with a BBQ. Heating is by propane and makes a cozy and comfort retreat all year long, even in winter. The main lodge has a suite which gives guests access to meals. The great room is open to all and there are a billiards table and dining room. The small convenience store offers some fishing tackle and treats such as ice cream. You can also buy your fishing or hunting license on site.

Fishing with Flame Lake Lodge

The biggest fish here are the predatory Northern Pike, but the Walleye give them a good run for their money. Also available are Whitefish, which are pretty good eating. The Walleye Season opens up the third Sunday in May and runs through Mid November. A trophy Walleye is 30 inches or longer. The season for Northern Pike is open all year long. Trophy pike run 36 inches or longer. Trophies are catch and release as only one can be kept that is over 34 inches. The Whitefish season is also open year round. The limit with a sports license is a dozen. Expect to find plenty of Whitefish in the 3-5 pound range. Whitefish are often overlooked, but they fight like Rainbow Trout and that makes them a fun target

Overall, expect to find clean and comfortable lodging along a beautiful lake with plenty of fishing opportunities.
