Fushimi Cabins - Guest Cabin
  • Approximate Cost:
    6 - 7 Days: $750 to $1,000 Per Person
  • Access: Drive In Camp

Fushimi Cabins is 930 km from Toronto and 510 km from Thunder Bay and is located just past the town of Hearst, Ontario. You can drive here along the northern section of highway 11. The Cabin, and there is only one, sits within Fushimi Provincial Park, which is just 41 km northwest of Hearst, Ontario. This is a rugged country with plenty of comforts and a ton of opportunities to catch the Big Fish.

The Cabin

One of the best features about this place is that this is the only cabin on the lake and it was built before the lake and surrounding area became a provincial park. The cabin has room for six people and offers two bedrooms and a loft. The bedrooms have double beds and the loft offers two futons. There are other options for sleeping too.

The appliances are propane powered and include a fridge and range with a toaster oven, microwave, and coffee maker - powered by a generator. Outside is a propane BBQ and the lodge provides the fuel for its use. The kitchen is equipped with everything you need to make and enjoy a meal. There is a single shower with solar on-demand water heater. Toilets are via an outhouse. Comforts include a wood stove, Radio, and boat dock with canoe. Expect a rustic setting with a cabin that is historically preserved but modernized.

The Fishing

A beautiful lake with plenty of space and easy to fish location. This is big Northern Pike and Walleye country and you should expect to fish for both. The cabin is accessible only by boat or float plane and the boat launch is where you park - there is room for two vehicles. You rent a boat, and they offer a 16-foot boat with a 15 horsepower, 4-stroke motor for rent on a daily or weekly basis.

Generally, people fish from the shore, there is a large sandy beach for swimming and a large section of the lake sits on a rock cap and you can easily target Northern Pike here. You can also explore the lake by boat or canoe and fish in many of the bays or enjoy a shore lunch along some of the hidden spots on the lake.

They also offer a one day - jet boat - fishing trip up one of the local rivers where you can fish or hunt.

Outside of fishing, you can book the cabin for duck or moose hunting too.
