Jan Lake Lodge sits just 50 miles to the west of Flin Flon in Manitoba, though the lodge is located in Saskatchewan. The lodge is easy to reach via paved roads or guests can fly in via a local airstrip. This is an excellent place for Walleye fishing and for big Northern Pike. The lodge is set up for die-hard fishermen and their families.
Fishing with Jan Lake Lodge
The lodge is a big compound with many cabins and it is set up for families. For kids, there is a swimming area, playground, and a nice beach. For fishermen, there is a lot of fish out there in the lake. The primary targets are Walleye and Northern Pike.
Expect plenty of Walleye and mos tin the 1.5-4-pound range. The most likely spot to successfully target Walleye is near the shore and in water that is 20 feet deep or shallower. The big ones may lurk in the weedy patches while the juveniles may hunt in nomadic packs. The big Walleye are territorial so if you catch a monster, drift 50-100 feet either direction and you may find another one.
For the Big Northern Pike expect the common catch to be in the 5-10 pound range with an opportunity to 15-20-pound Pike. If you are lucky, you may entice a monster Pike to strike, those being in the 40-pound plus range. Pike are a "toothy" lot and as such have around 700 teeth in their mouth. If you plan to target northern pike of any size, come prepared. That means steel or titanium leaders that are Pike approved. Guests fish from 16-foot Lund boats equipped with 20 hp motors. You will also need to purchase your fishing license online.
