The Kanipahow Wilderness Resort & Outposts is based out of Chapleau and offer guests waterfront cabins or remote drive in outpost camps. This is an outstanding place to come for Walleye, Northern Pike, Jumbo Perch, Smallmouth Bass, and Lake Trout fishing. The lodge offers true Ontario wilderness, which means outstanding vistas, amazing wildlife, and plenty of fishing. They are located about three hours North of Sault Ste. Marie and just over nine hours from Buffalo, New York. The lodge abuts the Chapleau Crown Game Preserve so expect a quiet and peaceful venue.

Lodging with Kanipahow Wilderness Resort & Outposts

The main lodge offers five cabins. Most sleep up to six people while one offers room for eight and another room for 12 guests. There are three outpost cabins one each on Embarrass Lake, Northwinds Lake, and South Wabus Lake. The main lodge cabins offer various bedroom layouts, full kitchens, four-piece bathrooms, large spaces open areas including a dining room and living room. Cabins have Wi-Fi, Satellite TV, and are heated by an oil furnace. Outdoors is both a BBQ and a deep fryer â€” Walleye is amazing when deep fried and fresh. Each cabin has its own dock.

The outpost cabins have both hot and cold running water, a three piece bathroom, kitchen with propane stove and fridge. Lights are via propane too. Expect comfortable and well-equipped outpost cabins

Fishing with Kanipahow Wilderness Resort & Outposts

You have options when it comes to fishing with Kanipahow Wilderness Resort & Outposts. Expect outstanding fishing for Walleye and Northern Pike with a few special places for Trophy fish. Embarrass Lake is an outstanding place to battle big Pike. It is common to find Northern Pike in the 28-32 inch range here. Northwinds Lake is excellent for Walleye, Northern Pike, Whitefish, and Lake Trout. This cabin has access to Vezina Lake too. The South Wabus Lake outpost offers top fishing for Walleye and Northern Pike. The lake is also home to some big lunkers and offers fishing access to many rivers and creeks that feed the lake.

Fishing from the main Lodge offers good Walleye action with opportunities for Northern Pike, and Lake Trout.

Overall, this is an outstanding place for fishing and hunting. The outpost cabins are comfortable, clean, and offer privacy, quiet, and a ton of photo opportunities. The main lodge is nice too, though more crowded. It makes up for the crowds by offering outstanding services and good fishing.
