Kitchi Island Outposts sits some 50 miles from Matheson Island in Manitoba. Guests of Kitchi Island Outposts can opt to stay at the Kitchi Island Outposts, the Long Haul Lake Camp, or the Longish Lake Camp.

What you can expect from the outpost camps is to be the only group there. The cabins come with full kitchens, propane fridges, cook stoves and BBQ. There is one boat for every 2-3 guests and the boats feature padded swivel seats, paddles, and motors. There are hot showers and hot and cold running water. Lights are via solar power, and for storing your fish there are propane chest freezers.

Fishing with Kitchi Island Outposts

You have some amazing habitat here to fish. Expect to find rapids, waterfalls, and fast moving water in conjunction with wide lakes and slow moving water. For Big Northern Pike they abundance of Sauger, Perch, Goldeye, and Crappie all mean excellent feeding. The Walleye are often located just in the calmer waters below the fast moving segments. This is where the aquatic insects are often found too. The Northern Pike are lazy fish and the big ones like to lurk in the calm and warmer waters of those sheltered bays.

If you'd like a guide, the lodge can arrange one for you. If you are looking to target big Northern Pike and Trophy Walleye, then a guide is usually a good idea as they can help put you right on top of the big fish. The fishing here is so good that you may not need a guide unless you want to target something rather specific.

Overall, expect nice cabins that are clean and comfortable and plenty of fishing action.
