Fishing with the Lake Baptiste Lodge

The lodge sleeps up to 10 guests and offers propane cooking refrigerators, hot water, electric generator, gravity fed water, hot showers, and heat by a wood-burning stove. The bathroom is via an outhouse. There is a satellite phone on site for emergency calls. While rugged, the fishing here is outstanding.

The local waterways are a haven for trophy Northern Pike. Lake Baptiste offers fishing for big Lake Trout, Walleye, and Whitefish. the record Northern Pike caught is 27 pounds and guest should expect to catch hundreds of northern pike into 3- to 5-pound range. If your focus is walleye fishing head down to where the Norbert River enters Lake Baptiste. There you will find active walleye fishing with average fish between 2- and 4-pounds and trophies weighing in the 6-pound range. This is a cold water Lake and the river too. So the Fish here grow slowly, which is why the lodge practices a strict catch and release only policy. Jean Lake is a gin clear body of water and there's plenty of lake trout in the 4- to 6-pound range. The best month for Lake Trout fishing in September along the quiet edges where the water is warmest. Jean Lake also offers outstanding 5- to 6-pound Northern Pike fishing, especially in Jake Bay. All you need here to enjoy fishing is light gear as the fish are plentiful and will wear you down in no time.
