Lessard's Fly-In Fishing Outpost

Lessard's Fly-In Fishing Outpost
  • Approximate Cost:
    2 - 3 Days: $1,000 to $1,500 Per Person
  • Access: Fly In Camp

The Lessard's Fly-In Fishing Outpost sits on the shores of Otukamamoan Lake, which means "trout lake". The lodge is just 25 minutes from Fort Frances by air and a short flight from International Falls. The lodge is a fly-in location that focuses on providing private and exclusive lodging for small groups.

The lodge holds only one group of people at a time. As such, expect to have a private vacation in the midst of some of Ontario's most beautiful county. There is internet and phone service. The dining room provides outstanding lake views and the lodge comes with a pair of cooks who feed you well.

Fishing with Lessard's Fly-In Fishing Outpost

There are guided and non-guided fishing expeditions. Guests can target Walleye, Northern Pike, Lake Trout, and Smallmouth Bass. This is a catch-and-release lodge so the fishing here is good. Lake Trout run in the 5-12 pound range with a few opportunities to target trophy Lake Trout in the 20 pound range.

Guests fish from a variety of boats, such as their 20 foot Lund Alaskan or their 17 foot Angler, all equipped with 90 HP engines, a trolling engine, and fish sonar.

While there is plenty of opportunity to fish for big, fat, Walleye, the real beauties of the lake are the Lake Trout. These big fat Lunkers can weigh 20 plus pounds. If you like to fish for Smallmouth Bass, the lake is full of them. Brett, who is the lodge's guide knows all of the best spots on the lake to fish for big Smallmouth Bass. If you like big fish then take your turn at Northern Pike. These long, lean, lurking monsters can hit 48 inches in length.

The lodge is owned by Bob Lessard, a state legislator of Minnesota. His son Brett is the guide and he is good at what he does. If you want a quiet and relaxed spot where the fishing is good and the scenery is beautiful then Lessard's is the place to go.
