Lookout Point Camp
  • Approximate Cost:
    6 - 7 Days: $500 to $750 Per Person
  • Access: Drive In Camp

Lookout Point Camp sits along the shores of Lake Gowganda in northern Ontario. This is a remote lake with plenty of fishing opportunities both on the lake and in the waters of many of the back lakes. Guests of Lookout Point Lodge are housed in cabins. The cabins are plush, comfortable and feature fully equipped kitchens. For entertainment, guests enjoy Satellite TV, DVD/VCR and DVD/VCR library. Each cabin is equipped with free high-speed internet. Bedrooms are large and outfitted well. Cabins range in size from two, three, six bedrooms. All feature a private bath with the exception of the Pickerel Palace (six bedrooms) which has not one, but two private bathrooms. This is a perfect place for couples, families, and groups, including business groups.

Fishing Lake Gowganda

This is a fairly large lake, and its waters hold some amazing species of fish. Lake Gowganda is not a round lake. It is long and wide, and the edges are ragged. What this means for fishermen is that the lake offers a plethora of fishing habitats. The shores offer shallow and deep waters. There are shaded pools, quite bays, weedy runs, and inlets where fish love to rest. There are islands out in the lake, a waterfall, and the lake offers a depth of about 200 feet. In these waters, you find Walleye, monstrous Northern Pike, and temperamental Smallmouth Bass. The back lakes are even better. They are fished less often, and the fish there grow larger. If you want to fight a trophy fish, the back lakes are the place to head. You can enjoy the lake on a boat from the lodge, or you can bring your own boat. You can also access the back lakes with boats from the lodge. Plus, they have experienced guides who know every square inch of the lakes, even the back lakes.

Fish species and Tricks

Walleye love the bright lures and spinners. Think bright orange, chartreuse, reds, pinks, and even white and black. Northern Pike are a sucker for small mammals and minnows. If you like to fly fish, try a mouse pattern dry fly over a weedy run and hold on to your hat. If the weather is hot, go deep. 30-60 feet you will find the bigger trout and by bigger we mean 10-20 pounds. Are you ready to get fishing? If so, this is a wonderful lodge with plenty of friendly hospitality and all the fishing you can stand.
