The lodge holds only ten people and there are four lakes plus the Haultain River from which you can choose to fish for Arctic Grayling, Northern Pike, and big Lunkers. This is a catch and release lodge so the fishing here for trophies is unreal.

Fishing with Mawdsley Lake Fishing Lodge

Guests of Mawdsley Lake Fishing Lodge have access to Mawdsley Lake, East Mawdsely Lake, Hobson Lake, and Haresign Lake. There are beautiful bodies of water with changing fishing environments. Expect to find hidden bays, coves, underwater structures, point structures, and calm grassy areas where those big Pike like to hide.

Fly Fishing: A good sized 8-9 pound fly rod is essential for catching big fish, like a 50-inch Northern Pike. You can temps pike to strike on wet nymphs and minnow flies or dry flies, such as a mouse pattern. On the opposite end of the scale are the Arctic Grayling, which use a light weight rod in the 5-6 pound range. nice black gnat flies work well as do small and medium-sized dry flies or nymphs.

Guests fish from 14-foot Alumarine boats equipped with a 15 hp engine. Boats hold two adults and one child for a total of three people. There are streams between the lakes and the lodge encourages guests to bring hip waders.

Saskatchewan province has moved fishing licenses to an online platform. Lodges are not longer able to supply hunting or fishing licenses to their guests. For that reason, you will need to buy and print your fishing license before you leave for your trip.
