Milton Lake Lodge
  • Approximate Cost:
    4 - 5 Days: $3,000 to $4,000 Per Person
  • Access: Fly In Camp

The Milton Lake Lodge sits 44 km to the South of the Northwest Territories border with Saskatchewan and 145 km due north of Wollaston Lake. The lodge helps you plan your entire trip including getting to the lodge. Guests choose Milton Lake Lodge because it offers outstanding fishing and hunting. Fishermen enjoy easy access to big Northern Pike, big, fat Lake Trout, and those wily Arctic Grayling. This is a place for both fly fishermen and spin casters. Guests fish on Milton Lake, Walker Lake, and Misekumaw Lake.

Fishing with Milton Lake Lodge

Milton Lake Lodge offers outstanding fishing for big Northern Pike, big Lake Trout, and plenty of sly Arctic Grayling. The Grayling are a smaller fish that max out around five pounds. In fact, the world record grayling is just five pounds fifteen ounces. They are, however, very smart, and they make fly fishing and spin caster fishing rather interesting.

What does Big mean at Milton Lake Lodge? Well, when it comes to Northern Pike, big means 35 pounds or more. The trick to catching the big Pike is to understand their nature. They are lazy fish that save their energy for fighting. As such, they lurk in the weed beds waiting for smaller fish to come along. By smaller, we mean anything that is smaller than they are. It is not uncommon to battle a nice Grayling or Lake Trout and then have a big Northern Pike Latch onto it. If you are patient you can haul them both into the boat. In terms of Lake Trout, big here is 40-50 pounds. That is a lot of Lunker to battle and Lake Trout are pretty good at putting up a fight.

Overall, you cannot go wrong here with the fishing. The lodge offers comfort and plenty of relaxation during your down time too.
