Lake St. Joseph — 190 square miles of fishing

It is hard to find an oval shaped lake in Ontario. The lakes here are made up of narrows, fingers, and secluded bays. Lake St. Joseph is no different. The great thing about these lakes is that they offer tremendous opportunity for fish to grow large. With over 190 square miles of water surface, there are plenty of places to fish for Walleye and Trophy Northern Pike. The lake stretches about 92 miles from tip to tip. Along the way, you find hidden bays, fingers, rocky shoreline, and deep structures that create a fishing paradise.

Guided or Non-Guided Fishing

Guided fishing at Old Post Lodge is optional. If you want to drift along the lake and fish what you know, then the lake offers plenty of opportunities to put your fishing skills to work. If you want to target a specific species of fish then guided fishing may be what you want to try. The guides are knowledgeable about both the fish and the lake and can guide to the best locations for whatever kind of fish you are after. If you want to target the trophy Walleye or Northern Pike, then a guide is probably your best bet. Put their experience to work for you, and let them drive the boat while you fish. Guides also prepare your lunch while you are on the lake. If the idea of a hot cooked meal along the shore sound perfect, then guided fishing is for you. If you have never used a fishing guide, you should try it. This is less about selling services as it is more about boosting your experience fishing trip.

Expect a lot of opportunities and be prepared for active fishing. The fish are large, the air is clean, and the water is just right for trophy Walleye fishing.
