Olive the Lake is just 4.5 hours from Toronto and sits in the town of Marten River in Northwestern Ontario. Welcome to fishing country.

Guests stay in one of the newly renovated and fully equipped cottages. This is an award winning lodge that offers amazing fishing, restful digs, and a whole lot of wilderness to explore.

The cottages are fitted with Tempur-Pedic Swedish mattress for comfort. The cottages range from studios to three bedrooms and feature hardwood floors, sitting and dining areas and a full kitchen. The lodge provides all bedding. There is a three piece bathroom in each cottage along with screened porches and BBQs. Expect all of the comforts of home and a full day of adventures just out the front door.

Fishing with Olive the Lake

They have a secret lake, and they offer guided fishing. It should be worth the trip just to fish on a secret lake! Fishing here is intense. Expect to target Walleye, Smallmouth Bass, Northern Pike, Jumbo Perch, Splake, Speckled Trout, and Lake Trout.

There are four additional lakes plus Marten Lake. Martin Lake is deep and one of the hottest places to target trophy Lake Trout. The lake offers outstanding structures and sholes that connect to Bruce Lake. Guests are welcome to bring their boats. For those fishermen without a boat, hire a guide. There are a number of wonderful fishing guides here that have a boat and know the lakes.

Walleye fishing here is good. The lake record for Walleye is 14.9 pounds and was caught with Olive the Lake. This is zone 11 in the Ontario fishing guide, and there are size and length limits on Walleye. No matter really, if you limit out on Walleye, switch to Smallmouth Bass or Northern Pike.

The lodge is about ten minutes from Marten Lake. Marten Lake requires a map if you are fishing without a guide. The underwater structures are intense, but the fishing is heavenly.

  • My two teenage sons and I just recently returned from a 3-night stay at Olive The Lake Lodge. It was a trip to catch fish and make memories, and it did not disappoint. We were welcomed by the owners, Dave and Cara, on our arrival. They walked us through everything included and quickly got us settled. The cottages are rustic, but clean, and well equipped with everything needed. Fresh air, a beautiful lake virtually to yourself, comfortable accommodation, and great people. If this is what you are looking for, I highly recommend staying at Olive The Lake Lodge. Thanks Dave and Cara, we had a great time! Shaun

  • Always a slice of heaven here. We stay in Cottage 6 and brought our 2 dogs with us. Came with a boat rental and everything you need. Lots of stuff to do from a playground, to swimming, water slide etc. Dave and Cara are great hosts as well and are more than willing to help if need be. They bring firewood right to your cottage and so on. Lots of fish were caught this trip!

  • Absolutely love Olive the lake. We just visited for a week and had a blast. The cottages are Rustic but clean and come with everything you need. Fishing was awesome! Monster bass and walleye. The kids made friends with other families that were visiting as well as the kids that live there and loved swimming, kayaking, tubing, and playing on the floating trampoline and slide. Cara and Dave are super friendly and great hosts. We look forward to going back again!

  • The most perfect cottage getaway! My boyfriend, our dog and I stayed in the 2 person cabin and it was everything we could have hoped for and more! Dave and Cara were amazing hosts, they made sure we had everything we needed and were very attentive. The 2 person cabin is very private, great for a couple to get away and enjoy each others company. We were supplied with our own private fire pit, BBQ, and fishing boat which is what put this trip over the top! The fishing was great, we both caught a huge bass. Their screened in patio was a perfect addition, we could enjoy the weather despite the bugs and rain! I recommend checking out the fire tower in the township of Temagami, talk about a view! We will definitely be returning! Thank you Dave & Cara for your amazing hospitality.

  • I've been to Temagami a few times over the years. This past September we stayed at "Olive the Lake" for bear hunting and fishing. This was by far the best place. The most organized outfitter I've ever hunted with. Dave is awesome, put us right on the bear. Cabins we're great, fishing was great, but I was mostly there to hunt. We've already booked our spot for next fall. Dave , his wife and sons made us feel very welcome there. We are looking forward to our bear hunt next fall.
