Olive the Lake is just 4.5 hours from Toronto and sits in the town of Marten River in Northwestern Ontario. Welcome to fishing country.

Guests stay in one of the newly renovated and fully equipped cottages. This is an award winning lodge that offers amazing fishing, restful digs, and a whole lot of wilderness to explore.

The cottages are fitted with Tempur-Pedic Swedish mattress for comfort. The cottages range from studios to three bedrooms and feature hardwood floors, sitting and dining areas and a full kitchen. The lodge provides all bedding. There is a three piece bathroom in each cottage along with screened porches and BBQs. Expect all of the comforts of home and a full day of adventures just out the front door.

Fishing with Olive the Lake

They have a secret lake, and they offer guided fishing. It should be worth the trip just to fish on a secret lake! Fishing here is intense. Expect to target Walleye, Smallmouth Bass, Northern Pike, Jumbo Perch, Splake, Speckled Trout, and Lake Trout.

There are four additional lakes plus Marten Lake. Martin Lake is deep and one of the hottest places to target trophy Lake Trout. The lake offers outstanding structures and sholes that connect to Bruce Lake. Guests are welcome to bring their boats. For those fishermen without a boat, hire a guide. There are a number of wonderful fishing guides here that have a boat and know the lakes.

Walleye fishing here is good. The lake record for Walleye is 14.9 pounds and was caught with Olive the Lake. This is zone 11 in the Ontario fishing guide, and there are size and length limits on Walleye. No matter really, if you limit out on Walleye, switch to Smallmouth Bass or Northern Pike.

The lodge is about ten minutes from Marten Lake. Marten Lake requires a map if you are fishing without a guide. The underwater structures are intense, but the fishing is heavenly.
