The Shining Falls Lodge is nicely located in wild Manitoba between Atikaki Wilderness Area, Manitoba and the Woodland Caribou Provincial Park, Ontario. The lodge sits on an island in the middle of Family Lake. This is a fly-in destination. The Shining Falls are a short boat ride from the lodge and are breathtakingly beautiful. If you are an angler, then the word "falls" might have caused your heart to skip a beat. Fast water action and a lot of opportunities to fish big fish around the falls.
The lodge offers modern living with cabins that hold up to eight guests. Expect comfortable accommodations with hot and cold running water, private bathrooms, a dining area, full kitchens, and 1-2 bedrooms with beds that offer memory foam mattresses. There is 24-7 electricity and free Wi-Fi too. Best of all the lodge sits just 140 miles from Winnipeg and 370 miles from Fargo.
Fishing with Shining Falls Lodge
The lake offers a rugged shoreline with bays, inlets, and rocky points that provide key habitat for big fish. The ample supply of bait fish makes this a perfect place to grow big predators such as the Northern Pike. This is a conversation lake so big Walleye are Catch-and-Release Only.
Guests fish from 14-foot or 16-foot boats with padded seats, motor and gas. Boats are equipped with life jackets in LG or XL only.
Overall, expect to find a perfect haven for couples, families, and groups. The fishing action is heavy and guests should bring fishing equipment for multiple weight fish targets. Northern Pike are big and strong so a medium-heavy weight rod is good. Walleye do best on a medium weight rod. Bait fish do well on a light-medium rod.
