You can find Shining Tree Camp on the shores of Shining Tree Lake, which is in the northeastern area of Ontario. The Lodge is easily accessible by paved road yet offers the wilderness experience during all four seasons of the year. What that means for fishermen is that fishing is available all year long. Cabin size range from a single person to parties up to eight people. Cabins are fully equipped with kitchens and separate bedrooms. Most rooms are set up with twin beds. There are boats and motor available for rent at fair prices. If you want a wilderness experience in a beautiful setting, then Shining Tree Camp is the place for you. Be sure to buy your fishing and hunting license ahead of time.

Fishing and Hunting at Shining Tree Camp

Each season at Shining Tree Camp offers a different fish in season. In the winter, ice fishing is popular because the trout slow down and makes it a perfect time to catch monster lake trout. In the spring and summer, the Walleye offer the best sport, unless you can tempt one of the larger Northern Pike to strike. Pike being the top predator fish in Shining Tree Lake makes it an excellent sports fish to fight. The Walleye also grow large and offer plenty of fight. Many of the nearby lakes also offer outstanding fishing, and some are accessible only by float plane.

In the off season, the lodge provides a home to hunters and those people seeking outstanding outdoor recreational opportunities. The primary hunting targets are black bear and moose, but the local area is awesome for ruffled grouse, Spruce grouse, snowshoe hare, and even wolves. The lodge hunts on management units 29 and 40. Unit 29 is ideal for early archery season for moose. For those interested in snowmobiling, the local area usually settles in the about four feet of snow. The local lakes freeze over with an ice depth of about three feet.
