Wapiti Sports & Outfitters fishes the Upper Bow River, that stretch of the river between Banff and Calgary and offers guided fishing for Trophy Brown Trout. They launch their boats from Canmore in the shadow of the Eastern Slope of the Rocky Mountains. The waters here are catch and release and that conservation effort has paid off big time for Trophy Brown Trout and gives fishers easy access some of the best trout species on the Bow River.

Getting here is just an hour drive from the Calgary International Airport

Fishing with Wapiti Sports & Outfitters

Wapiti Sports & Outfitters offers nearly year-round fishing adventures on the Upper Bow River. During the spring and summer you can float the Upper Bow and enjoy some of the best fly fishing around for Trophy Brown Trout. This is in part because the Upper Bow is not as fished and also because of the Catch-and-Release policy of this stretch of the Bow River. The Lower Bow River is where the majority of fishers venture to take in the Trophy Brown and Trophy Rainbow trout. On a bad day, that can be somewhat akin to combat fishing. The Upper Bow River is different. It changes frequently from small runs and riffles to drift-able stretches. Wapiti Sports & Outfitters offers professionally guided drifting adventures.

Ice Fishing with Wapiti Sports & Outfitters

Ice Fishing - The winter here is harsh along the Eastern Slope of the Rocky Mountains and that is just perfect for people who love ice fishing. Wapiti Sports & Outfitters guides you on this winter adventure and you fish from heated shelters for big Trophy Brown Trout.

The Ice Fishing season is available from December through the month of April. On the Lower Bow, April can be the start of the fishing season, but the Upper Bow is still a winter wonderland. It is that difference that makes fishing the Lower Bow difficult during June and into July as the melt causes the fish to hide along the shore. No worries, though. The Upper Bow River make a great place to target Trophy Brown Trout.
