The White Sands Camp sits just 72 miles North of the town of Ignace and just off Highway 599. You will find the camp along the Northern side of Lake Sturgeon along the shores of Horizontal Bay. This is a prime fishing location for Walleye and Big, Northern Pike. The lodge is open for fishing year-round and is perfect as a base camp for both hunters and fishermen.

Fishing with White Sands Camp

Guests fish from 16 foot Lund boats each with a 25 HP motor. You can also bring your own boat too. There is a boat launch and dock that has room for boats up to 24 feet in length. For the most part, this is a self-guided fishing lodge, though guide services are available. The lake is large, and the lodge provides fishing maps for guest use.

Guests have access to big Walleye, Northern Pike, Fat Lake Trout, and there are plenty of Whitefish available too. There are also plenty of local lakes which offer outstanding fishing too.

If you have never fished for Northern Pike, then throw in a few steel leaders because these big fish make short work of fishing line.

For local hunting, there is access to moose and black bear.

Lodging with White Sands Camp

The camp hosts up to 45 people, though rarely are there that many. There are five housekeeping cabins that hold anywhere from two to nine guests each. Each cabin features a fully-equipped kitchen complete with coffee makers, microwave ovens. Each also offers a three-piece bathroom, BBQ, fireplace, and twin beds with linens. Guests are expected to bring their own towels for bathing and dishes. On site there is a sauna and guests enjoy gathering around the gazebo for social activities. The lodge sits on a long sandy beach which makes it perfect for families.
